About Us

International Centre for Sikh Heritage Studies (ICSHS) is an institute dedicated for the study of Sikhism as dynamic and internally fluid tradition. Focusing on key issues that reflect what animates Sikh activity and lived experience.

AIMS AND OBJECTS

 

1.      Introducing novices to a field of Sikh studies focusing on scriptures, musicology, history, art and architecture, while challenging those already engaged in Sikh Studies with new insights and perspectives.

2.      To produce books and booklets in Sikh history, polity, philosophy and culture on various levels in order to disseminate correct knowledge of Sikhism and the Sikh people across the globe. 

3.      To initiate a continuing and purposeful dialogue with all religious and ethnic groups and open the way for fraternal relations with other communities and peoples. Special sub-committees will be set up to develop understanding and cultural co-operation with these communities.

 

4.      To find solution to the tensions between the first and second generation of the Sikh people living in foreign countries across the globe.

 

5.      To give guidelines to the permanent settlers in foreign countries to develop cultural and political maturity and evince sophistication in the rebirth of deeper loyalties to both the country in which they are living and their religion, Sikhism and its rich spiritual and cultural heritage and thus provide content and meaning to their existence in the contemporary world. 

6.      The International Centre of Sikh Heritage Studies will not function as a political party or group, but it will institute in-depth study of the political problems of the Sikh Community in India and abroad.
