This magnums historical work by the poet Bhai Santokh Singh, contains the Sikh history from the times of the Sikh Guru's till the martyrdom of  Banda Singh Bahadur. Since its completion in 1845, it was the accepted volume for the discourse of Sikh history in Sikh shrines. Bhai Vir Singh dedicated 12 years of his life in editing of this great work, adding footnote, historical notes, meanings and paraphrases for the text and published it in 14 volumes.
